Valentine’s Day is recognized as the most romantic day of the year, but if you’re single you might feel left out and slightly bummed. While everyone is talking about their extravagant valentine’s day plans with bae, you’re looking at your phone and waiting for a magical bae to text you.
Well, I’m here to tell you that there is no reason to feel bummed. You can use this day to celebrate YOU; because you’re fabulous and you don’t need anybody to celebrate love and be complete. Here are some ways to spend Valentine’s Day when you’re single.
1. Spa night at home.
Who doesn’t love spa dates? To set the mood, you’ll want to make sure you have the proper lighting, your favorite candles, music, a good book (if you like to read), and your favorite face masks. I suggest you splurge a little and get yourself a good quality face mask with organic ingredients to really nourish your skin and make you radiate. Then, sit back and just vibe with yourself, your music, words, or meditate on the fact that you earned this lovely spa night. Also, turn off your phone so you’re not tempted to scroll through your Facebook or Instagram feed and see pictures of your friends or colleagues out on dates. This might tempt you to sulk about what you don’t have instead of living in the moment and appreciating YOU.
Live in the moment and appreciate you.
2. Dinner date with yourself.
OK—you might tell me this sounds lame, but trust me on this. Order food from your favorite takeout spot or have Delivery Dudes pick up your order. Set up a nice table setting for yourself and set the atmosphere with some good tunes and your favorite drink. Once the food comes knocking, the trick is to focus on savoring all the delicious flavors one bite at a time, instead of scarfing it down like we usually do when we’re in a hurry or just busy with life. You’ll actually appreciate the food you’re eating and it’ll be a real treat. Trust me.

3. Pamper yourself at a spa.
Maybe you want to get out of the house and go all out. Invite a friend or family member to go with you and treat yourself to a nice massage or facial treatment at a spa.

4. Treat yourself to a new do.
There’s something about a hair change that just makes you feel fierce. Get a new haircut, new extensions, new color, some highlights, or a blowdry. Whatever it is, you’ll feel refreshed and re-energized. Take another one of your single friends with you and make it a Galentine’s Day.
5. Indulge in your favorite dessert.
If you have a sweet tooth, buy yourself your favorite dessert and indulge a little! There is no reason to be sulking on Valentine’s Day single, or not. Whether it’s a few pieces of dark chocolate, a red velvet cupcake, a huge ice cream bowl with gummy bears and chocolate chips, tiramisu, cheesecake, or fancy donuts—get your dessert on!

6. Gift yourself.
This might sound cliche, but sometimes it feels good to buy ourselves gifts. This could be something little (Amazon is always my go-to for little gifts) or something more extravagant that you’ve been saving up to buy. Whatever it is, make sure it’s something that you like and appreciate. For example, I’ve been wanting to buy myself a new shirt for the office and I plan to on Valentine’s Day! Then, when I wear it, I can remember that I bought myself this gift and it’s special. I know it sounds corny, but if you attach meaning to physical things you’ll learn to appreciate them more and not take them for granted.

7. Watch a comedy and laugh it up.
Maybe you watch Netflix on the daily already, but tonight you can put on something like “How to Be Single” or “Legally Blonde,” all-time classics. If you’re not into that, put on a comedy show or movie so you can get a good laugh in. Laughter boosts your mood, reduces stress, and is overall just good for the soul.

8. Go to the gym.
There is something equally fulfilling about going to the gym knowing you’re going to get a hella good workout in, while everyone else is stuffing their face. Endorphins are always. Hell, maybe you can do both. Go to the gym and then stuff your face. The advantage of being single on Valentine’s Day is that you can do whatever you want.

9. Buy yourself flowers.
Yes, girl, there is nothing wrong with buying yourself flowers. I do it all the time for my office, or at home. Fresh flowers add happiness and life any event or space. Get yourself a nice bouquet of flowers and enjoy it.
See… Valentine’s Day when you’re single isn’t all that bad! There are so many things to do and it’s the perfect time to treat yourself and make it all about YOU. Enjoy it while you can.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
XO Natacha
